Address: Oum Khun St./Shinta Mani St, Krong Siem Reap 0000, Cambodia www.shintamani.com/club Phone: +855 (0) 63 761 998 Shinta Mani Club/Resort is another great Cambodian boutique hotel which opened in 2013. It is on the pricier side compared to Viroth's Villa, but A and my parents decided that we needed a treat on our last day in Cambodia. The hotel is French quarter style and designed by the acclaimed architect Bill Bensley, who also designed St. Regis Bali. The property has over 39 rooms on the Club side. The Resort side, which is just across the street, has a bigger pool and even more rooms. Although it is an older property, the Resort is equally charming. I love how they incorporate Angkor artwork throughout the hotel. The rooms are beautifully designed. Immediately after we came back from our temple hopping, we were offered cool towels at the drop off point to clean off our sweat and the concierge service took our luggages upstairs. They can even call you a tuk tuk or recommend dinner plans. (Above) The poolside bar and the pool. It was drizzling so I didn't get a chance to dip in the pool.
The flowers that the employees were folding early in the morning. During our stay, Shinta Mani Club was hosting some business pow-wow so we were ask to enjoy our breakfast at the Shinta Mani Resort. The above is the menu they offered. The breakfast offered are mainly Western style, which were mediocre. A makes better pancakes for sure. I think you can probably get better Khmer food elsewhere. We ate the breakfast nevertheless since it was already included in our stay.
Side story: A got food poisoning on the last day. He said it was good that we were staying at a nice boutique hotel since he was in bed the whole day/using the toilet nonstop.

Address: Street 23, Wat Bo Village, Siem Reap-Angkor, Cambodia http://www.viroth-villa.com/ Phone: +855 (0) 63 761 720 Totally love hipster boutique hotels. They are usually small, so they limit the number of people going through the property. Viroth's villa is relatively new. I think it was built in the last 5 years or so. The management has maintained the property well and even opened up Viroth's hotel which is a slightly bigger boutique down the street. Queen size bed with open shower concept. The concrete sink is def modern. The villa has a contemporary feel mixed with Khmer decorations like lanterns and traditional Cambodian clay works. The bed is sturdy and comfortable. We stayed on level 1, so there is a side yard with some chairs for you to sit there and enjoy some take out food/snacks. The best part about the villa was the breakfast. It is included with the booking of the room. On the day when we had to wake up at 4+AM to see the Angkor Wat sunrise, the villa packed away some bread, hot coffee, and fresh fruits for us in little baskets for our driver to put in his trunk. (Below) Rooftop patio with chairs for you to eat breakfast. There is a paper and pencil menu for you to tick off things that you want to eat for breakfast. Obviously, I picked a mango smoothie. The fresh fruits platter was also great. Mango was in season so it was extra delicious. I was craving hot noodles. What do you know, they have it for breakfast as well. Horror stories on online travel forums said DO NOT drink water in Cambodia. Well, my solution to that was to drink mango smoothies daily. Make sure you request no ice, although it did not really cause any GI issues for me when I drank them with ice. I guess I lived to tell the tale.
